In March-April of 1916, East Calvary Chapel hosted the fifty-third annual ME Conference. The conference was well attended and received, making Dr. Tindley very happy.
Dr. Charles Tindley and his wife were honored by East Calvary Church for their sixteen years of service. The event was attended by many, and Dr. Tindley received many gifts of cash and clothing.
Rev. Tindley promotes the importance of African American education for the future in his Emancipation address at Zion Baptist Church. He believes that the combination of "trained hands and an educated head" creates a model citizen.
